Arcane Musings by Equestria-Prevails Arcane Musings by Equestria-Prevails
The Scrying Grove is the oldest and most prestigious Wizardry organization in Griffonia. In ancient times the Grove consisted of druids, shamans and other practitioners of ritualistic proto-Magic, before the introduction of formalized systems of Magic by the Crystal Empire. Traditionally the High King will maintain the services of at least one Court Wizard, who act as an advisor and bulwark against the magical influences and scrying of enemy agents.

That looks like the Crystal Queen's scepter, though it isn't exactly the same.

A hippogriff.  Hm.

They show up occasionally in Classical literature and art, but they were first named and described by the poet Ariosto in Orlando Furioso.

And the same story features Malagigi, a knight of Charlemagne's court who is also a powerful magician.

Malagigi seems to have been a sort of "adult supervision" for the Paladins, midway in age and rank between them and the distant, godlike Charles.

Is there, was there an Ariosto in the Ponyverse?  Is this his or her Malagigi ?

I love your pictures. You show them the ... uh .. I do not know how to say it. You do not just have a story for children just like this ... showing us Bronies and Pegasis in a different light than I imagine some of it ... (sorry for the mistakes I do not know English very well) I am a dummy!

A hippogriff? Is it because he's half unicorn he can do magic or is it just something they learn?

I think hippogrifs are Griffonia's equivalent of unicorns. They have the ability to cast magic unlike their lion legged cousins.

Personally I would make the Keythongs the Unicorn Equivalent of the Griffons. Here is a reference: ayem.deviantart.com/art/Bird-G…

You got that creature from one user. He could've pulled it out of his head.

Actually I've read abbout it before. You want a Griffon someone pulled out of a head? Take an Ursagryph. Hasbro seemingly owns tha concept of the creature, since all results regarding it are tied to the Predacon Grimwing ( aswell as his redeceo Darksteel and remold Budora ). So technically one could pop up in MLP:FiM, although an organic.

But that's a whole different franchise and unless there's a story arc that involves an invasion by alicorns who want to eliminate all ponies, I doubt a mechanical creature like the Ursagryph has a chance of appearing in the show.
