The Strung Stave by Equestria-Prevails The Strung Stave by Equestria-Prevails
Archery is wildly popular in virtually all Griffon nations, and is practiced not only for hunting and sport but also used alongside firearms in warfare. This bowyer is carefully forming a wooden stave into shape, while his wife rubs oil and waxes onto a finished bow to seal it.

WHEEE~!  I LOVE HYBRIDS!  They can be so cute, scary or just plain cool!!

I know that mythologically, a hybrid between a griffon and a horse/pony would be a hippogryph, but that doesn't mean you can't be creative!  Your hybrid character is awesome!

There are already dragon-ponies, they are sometimes called Kirins(Or Quilins depending on how you spell it).  I have one as my sona actually...  ^^;

Actually kirins/quilins in our fandom are misinterpreted as dragon-ponies. They're actually dragon-DEERS.

What you're thinking of really are Longma.

In other words: a Hippogriff, a cross between a Griffon and a Horse/Pony, and is said to symbolize true love, as in lore; griffons and horses are mortal enemies.

I guess it could be considered a variant of the hippogryph. Could also be a pony sphynx

I believe he's a pony equivalent of a sphinx due to the Lion body, bird wings, and pony head. But that's just a theory, a pony theory! (I guess? lol IDK.)

Huh, interesting scene. Its really nice as a whole completed scene which is great, but if you ever come back to it it would like even better with shadows(then it would be really complete).

It's not a hippogryph or a gryphon. Gryphons are half eagle, half lion. Hippogryphs are half eagle, half horse. This "griffon-pony" is 1/3 horse (the head and neck), 1/3 eagle (the hands and wings), and 1/3 lion (the feet and tail).

Don't think so. A sphinx is a lion with the head and breast of a human female.

Hippo griefs normally have horse feet in some areas of story and lore...but I like this version as well cause he looks so adorable with his lion back feet and bird claws in the front. Very creative ^3^

There is no way a griffon and a pony can conceive children together. Since it's reasonable to assume that griffons and ponies are two different species, it would be impossible for pony sperm to fertilize griffon eggs and vice versa. (Heck we humans can't even impregnate chimpanzees). So either he's the result of Starswirl The Bearded's "questionable" experiments or he's apart of a natural species.
