Thunderclapper by Equestria-Prevails Thunderclapper by Equestria-Prevails

More sophisticated than single-shot shootsticks and more reliable than Griffon revolving rifles, the repeater-shooter utilizes a lever mechanism to eject a spent cartridge and load another.

Hey, someone appears to be using this and selling it along with some other works.
Zalleus Featured By Owner Dec 8, 2014
I still have no idea how earth ponies are supposed to use these guns. Rule of Cool I guess.
iWantcoal Featured By Owner Dec 31, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
See that giant trigger? That's how.
Zalleus Featured By Owner Dec 31, 2014
What trigger? I don't see a trigger.
iWantcoal Featured By Owner Jan 1, 2015  Hobbyist Digital Artist
The whole thing is a trigger... like on a scattergun.
Zalleus Featured By Owner Jan 1, 2015
Like how you chamber another shot on a shotgun?
iWantcoal Featured By Owner Jan 2, 2015  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Well the gun is big enough for to function, there isn't enough detail to determine what it can or cannot do.
Zalleus Featured By Owner Jan 2, 2015
See, what I have a problem with is that in order for a pony to fire that musket he has to stand up on his hind legs, lift the gun to his eye with hooves, and pull a trigger SOMEWHERE without any fingers (and I'm not gonna bother mentioning that any musketeer worth his bullets closes their eyes when firing). And if he wants to hit what he's aiming at, he needs to balance on his hind legs long enough to line of the sights, as well as brace himself for the recoil. Balancing on hind legs is hard enough on a quadraped, doing so while firing a gun is nothing short of miraculous.

I know the Equestria Prevails isn't trying to reinvent the musket just for ponies, he's just drawing cool pictures; and it is cool. I do like the idea of ponies fighting eachother and griffons with shot and powder weapons, but to picture ponies fighting with weapons like spears, swords, and guns (i.e. designed for humans and their opposable thumbs) with hooves (or Celestia forbid, their mouth) stretches my willing suspension of disbelief.

They don't have to stand, in fact laying against the ground is a very good way for them to fire a gun, like human snipers do.
The long shoulder grip can be fitted against their torso for steady support, while they hold the front with their left foreleg. With the two points locked down, they can move their right foreleg freely to pull the trigger and reload.

I love your rifle. It's creative and designed for pony. Can I use your design? I will mention source in the description.

Zafiro2jol Featured By Owner Jul 15, 2013

For some reason I'm imagining that this guy is the younger, more adventurous cousin of the unicorn depicted in The Mage. I think it's the color scheme.
Spleemaster9 Featured By Owner Apr 11, 2013  Student Writer
How does he fire that?
Seriously though. This is a very good drawing.

During war, often one group would capture enemy weapons, break it apart to see how it works, assemble it test it, discover it’s weakness, & then rework it to see how they could do better. Plus push necessity (necessity is the mother of all inventions, especially when it is urgent. That said group will eventually come up with something better.

It would be interesting which side will come up with a magazine fed semiautomatic. Their level of technology should allow for them to develop such a weapon, especially the Ponies since they seem to be ahead not only in magic but also technologically. That they were losing initially was because they were never prepared for such a war.

Here is Some Answers to The People's Questions:
Fiffe: "dat gun... it's beautiful :D" DAMN RIGHT!
MataNuiSaga & Danniels95 : "Trigger" No Idea, Magic Ammo? it's probably hidden from View......
Alpha117: " What is a Thunderclapper?" Probably a Soldier similar to the Arqubuisers and Musketeers.
The numerous Question repeated "What is The Gun supposed to be?" A Repeating Rifle (Winchester M1873's, 1860 Henry Repeaters, Marlin Model 560's etc etc)
Sarphog: "mature MLP"
A: DON'T SAY S**T LIKE DAT! HASBRO MAYBE WATCHING! you should know wat happened to MLP: Fighting is Magic
B: MLP:FiM is a G for General Supposed to be for children (Little Girls/Baby Goats(Kids) not a PG or Adult's Only show, anyway MLP isn't supposed to do with anything of Guns, Armor, Swords, and Violence
CygnusVismundCygnus Featured By Owner Feb 26, 2013
I was under the impression that this WAS "Thunderclapper", rather than a type of pony infantry. I mean it makes sense - look at his cutie mark.

TheWanderer93 Featured By Owner Feb 4, 2013
Soo, it's an early form of machine gun... nice
Team-Friction Featured By Owner Jun 3, 2013
Actually, it's a lever action rifle, not a machine gun.
TheWanderer93 Featured By Owner Jun 3, 2013
Ahh yes... but still, this guy is a freaking genius. He actually made a weapon that actually fits for ponies.
Team-Friction Featured By Owner Jun 3, 2013
