On fandom, fans, and trollsI just flew in from Seattle, and I had a great time. In many ways it was one of the best cons I've been to. For my own part, everyone I met and encountered, from staff to attendees to VAs to friends old and new, were positive and the people incredibly kind and brilliant. I was witness to countless incidents of generosity and honesty and solidarity. Rarely have I smiled so hard or as often in the company of so many good people and admirable fans. But, sadly, it seems not every experience this past weekend was so positive. Before My Little Pony I had no real experience with the concept of fandom beyond what I read with horror, and, admittedly a certain amount of amusement on internet websites and forums. But here I am, happily lost in a sea of technicolor unicorns and pegusi. I can't say I've been part of the MLP fandom since it began, I was actually somewhat late to the world of ponies. But I have seen it grow from a relatively sma
interview with LA WeeklyI am extremely honored to have been interviewed for LA Weekly, and included in their People 2012 issue "People 2012" with the likes of Liz Meriwether and Carrie Fisher and many other fascinating Los Angel-ites. The interview was fun to do, and I'm relieved the photo turned out so nicely.Favorite quote: "Think of the girls," she told herself as she worked on the show. "They need to believe that the stuff they like isn't stupid."Take a read and enjoy!
The End of Pony?My friend Lauren over at the Daily Dot recently posted a rather interesting article considering the various signs of a dwindling fandom, and whether the G4-based My Little Pony community is burning out at the same breakneck pace of which it initially flared to life. On one hand, the article is a more than a little tongue-in-cheek and clearly meant to ruffle the horsefeathers of a community that has proven exceptionally good at being ruffled over the past several months. Controversy, reactionary rants and drama wars forged in the fire of hurt feelings, damaged reputations, and public vitriol have been the norm lately. Far more of the negative than the unofficial (though overused to the point of cliché) motto of “love and tolerance.”With the airdat
The Royalty Contest [1 YEAR PREMIUM] CONTEST OVER!EDIT: Winners can choose to take points rather than premium, if you like, and you are welcome to have the prize given to a friend, if you would prefer.~~The Royalty Contest~~Hey guys! It's fast-approaching Christmas, which is a time that a lot of people enjoy. In the spirit of things, we wanted to run a Christmas contest, but, by scanning over DeviantArt and other groups, we saw that, naturally, a lot of other groups had the same idea. We don't much fancy running a contest that's almost identical to other contests on DA – a simple Christmas-themed pony contest is something that you can take part in elsewhere. We also realised that, if we did do yet another Christmas pony contest, we'd likely see a lot of people submitting a single contest entry to several similarly-themed contests. It would be the natural thing to do, and so we wouldn't necessarily blame anyone if t
The end of a party, and the start of a show!3 Weeks Party / 3 Days Regret has come to an end, my first long story lasting over a year to create despite taking place within the timespan of 5 days. Overall very happy with the outcome and though it is painfully obvious how I lacked some of the skill that I later picked up in the earlier parts compared to later parts I have yet to correct all, but may still try and do so in the future, but definitely not in one go or that would destroy my brain to do so much editing / proof reading at once. But alas, the end of a party indeed! And the end of regrets! But what now besides the usual random one off stories? Low and behold now you shall learn of Trixie's awe inspiring story in Magician's Obsessions!Yes a long story of the most Powerful unicorn in ALL of Equestria! A story of self conflict and a story of friendship, a story of acceptance and a story of love! A Twixie romance of course, as could there ever be a doubt to that lavender mare falling for the most inspiring unicorn who has ev
